Leather Craft
Description: This leather-making workshop is more than simply creating a notebook or leather accessory. Participants also learn about the wildlife damage challenges facing the Bōsō Peninsula, where animals such as wild boar, deer, and muntjac (kyon) cause significant harm to local agriculture.
While these animals are culled to protect farmland, the workshop explores how they are responsibly utilized rather than wasted, prompting discussion around circular economy practices and sustainable resource use. As you work with leather, you are invited to reflect on how craftsmanship can contribute to environmental balance and rural resilience.
The workshop takes place in a creative studio located within a renovated historic building near Tateyama Station, now reborn as a multi-purpose cultural space. This setting adds another layer of connection to local revitalization and thoughtful reuse.
Duration: Approximately 1.5–2 hours
Participants: 1–6 people (larger groups available upon request)
