Incense Making
Description: This immersive incense-making experience takes place at a historic Buddhist temple, where incense has long played an essential role in prayer, meditation, and daily religious practice. Using natural ingredients such as aromatic woods and traditional herbs, you will learn how incense has been crafted and used in Japan for centuries to purify the mind and space.
The experience is fully guided by the deputy head priest, who will carefully lead you through each step of the incense-making process. Beyond the hands-on activity, the priest will also share insightful stories about the history of Buddhism in Japan, the spiritual meaning of incense, and its role in temple rituals.
This is not simply a craft workshop, but a quiet and reflective cultural encounter—an opportunity to slow down, engage your senses, and gain a deeper understanding of Japanese spirituality.
